Master of Nursing Program

The development of nursing as a profession with advanced clinical skills, particularly in Uganda, is of great value in the process of better health care through the implementation of health promotion methodologies and improved acute care. This can only be achieved if the vision of nursing education and practice is elevated to a level that distinctly recognizes critical thinking in its expression of knowledge and practice and in the exercise of inter-professional practice with members of the health team. The partnership with Mass General includes the support of baccalaureate prepared nurses in advancing their practice through a Master of Nursing Science (MNS) academic degree program at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST). The clinical specialization for this degree presently is critical care, which enables the nurses to function both autonomously and in collaboration with other healthcare professionals to manage, support, and coordinate the care of the critically ill patients.
